King of JunkaPOP by Team TAAG Entertainment
The 242 entertainment scene awaits a trembling awakening this weekend, as one of the country’s youngest and most experienced entertainers, Munks(21), returns to the set of Bahamas@Sunrise on ZNS TV 13 for a third time within two years premiering hot new music from his new up and coming album, ‘King of JunkaPOP.’
This local entertainment phenom originally popped up in 2006 on the Junkanoo Summer song competition featuring his debut single, ‘The Art of Woo.’ The song was a genius fusion of popular sounds such as Junkanoo laced with hints of Soca and HipHop in the mix.
Munks then earned the title of creator of a nu- wave style of Bahamian music named ‘JunkaPOP.’
Once the song made it to radio stations around the country, Munks continued to release music and was later rated as the number one recording artist on 100Jamz Bahama Hot Ones for four weeks straight with his nightclub anthem ‘Heyyy.’ He was constantly found making appearances at venues and events throughout the city of Nassau up until summer 2008. The young striving artist developed his skill, utilizing that time to acquire experience and appreciation in entertaining audiences of hundreds and even thousands.
Munks admits to his previous appearances on the popular Bahamas@Sunrise TV show as some of his most critical on the road to success of becoming one the country’s most profound acts.
Performing music on the show in 2007 from his debut album ‘JunkaPOP; Da Fusion,’ and then again to announce his departure on a tour traversing the family islands called the Nu New Tour, Munks is hopeful that the third time’s a charm.
After a full year of obviously vowing to silence, Munks jumps back into the noisy market and prepares himself to promote a slew of new music from his new album ‘King of JunkaPOP,’ this coming Friday on ZNS TV 13 at 6:30am.
Munks said he is deeply devoted to pushing “JunkaPOP” as a tool of promoting genuine Bahamian Culture in the 21st century through entertainment, believing that his music will have impact on Bahamian music for generations to come.
